Anton Harber is the executive director. Harber has 40 years of experience as an editor, journalist, and journalism teacher and has been involved in free expression issues since the 1980s when he was he was founder-editor of the Weekly Mail (now the Mail & Guardian) when it was prosecuted, confiscated, and closed by the apartheid government.
