Hanifa Manda is the Project Manager for Campaign for Free Expression’s South Africa portfolio. Previously, she was a Regional Program Coordinator for a global institute focusing on building citizen-centred governments and amplifying marginalized voices. She has over 10 years’ experience working with non-profits, civil society, government, academia, private sector and multilateral institutions, contributing to the shaping of policy and practice across the Human Rights, Democracy and Governance sector. Hanifa is dedicated to promoting gender equality; youth inclusion; freedom of expression; access to information; and transparency and accountability in political processes. She is a seasoned rapporteur consultant with high-level experience in documenting, analysing and producing written reports on content discussed at conferences and high-level meetings on topics such as social justice, women’s rights, child protection, disability rights, and tax administration among others. Hanifa received a Young African Leaders Fellowship award from the European University Institute in Italy, in 2021. She holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Multidisciplinary Human Rights from the University of Pretoria, a Project Management Postgraduate Certificate from the University of South Africa, and a Social Science Honours degree specializing in Music and Musicology.
